Alison likes reading and writing from her childhood and she was just ten-years-old when she started her journal. She grew up under the supervision of distant parents. Alison’s father is the English teacher in high school and he is an expert of historic preservation.

The relation between her father and mother was not so appreciated. Alison along with her siblings suffers many times when their parents do not compromise their conflicts for the better of their kids.Unfortunately, her father was also involved in a homosexual relationship with his male students and one of the family babysitters. The only mutual love between Alison and her father is the love of reading books.

They often recommend books to each other and that’s something which makes Alison happy. She also describes her relationship with her brothers and sister. Alison struggles to get involved in any physical relation with men and then Alison thinks that maybe she’s a lesbian. She is thinking of having a relationship with women. This is a superb book from social activist.
