The whole theme of the novel revolves around two things i.e love and death. The story of the novel is set in thriving Tokyo and also shifts location to a relaxed mountainous retreat. Toru is the main and special character of this novel. The story starts with 37-year-old Toru traveling to Hamburg.
Kizuki was the best friend of Toru but at the age of seventeen, he decides to end his life. Naoko loves Kizuki and after the death of her love once she was totally broken. After the death of Kizuki, Toru tries to offer emotional support to Naoko and falling in love with her. Toru tries his best to help the Naoko but she always shows the dark side, hopelessness, and pain in front of Toru. From starts to end the story was full of emotions that the protagonist was going through.
There are a lot of graphic adult scenes; characters are realistic and perfectly flawed. We would highly recommend this novel to those who are looking for a unique, magical, heartbroken and suspenseful novel.
