Jacob Weisz and Jean-Luc Leclerc are the prominent characters of this novel. The story centers during WWII, when the Nazis are taking over to the entire world. Jewish are the one who is on the target of Nazis and none of the family is safe from the terror. Jacob is a seventeen-year-old young boy who flees from his own country Germany. He born and raised in Auschwitz but now he is leaving his country. His parents and siblings are in the custody of Nazis and he did not even they are alive or not.

While fleeing from the country, Jacob plans to come back and look for his family. Unfortunately, life did not happen as we think and same is the case with Jacob. He caught up in a horrible situation and there is nowhere else to go. Jacob did not know how and when he became a slave with hundreds of other people. He befriended with a guy name Jean and together they make a plan to flee. If they caught, both will be killed and it’s a must-win situation for Jacob.
