Flash Boys Book Summary
The “Flash Boys: A Wall Street Revolt” is a best-selling book that describes the downfall of the economy in the banks. Michael Lewis is the author of this impressive book. Michael Lewis is the best-selling author of The Undoing Project, Flash Boys, Moneyball and The Big Short. Michael Lewis is a columnist for Bloomberg View and a contributing writer to Audible. His articles have also appeared in Vanity Fair. Lewis grew up in New Orleans and remains deeply interested in the city.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from Princeton and a master degree in economics from the London School of Economics. Flash Boys is an amazing story of technology and persistence by a peripheral Wall Street trader. With the help of this book, you learn how High-Frequency Traders (HFT) and the big Wall Street banks manipulated stock orders of ordinary people. This isn’t liquidity or making a market, it’s stealing. While this book was very interesting, it could have been a riveting story. I felt that Michael Lewis didn’t write to his usual high standard.
I loved Moneyball. Maybe the subject, technology, and dark pools don’t lend itself to gripping reading, compared to baseball. Lewis is exceedingly good at describing the complexities and absurdities of the subculture. All in all, Flash Boys is a deeply entertaining book that illuminates how much our world has changed in less than a decade.
