She tells us the difficulties she was facing a single mother and being a working woman it was very difficult for her to take care of her daughter properly. The book tells us how Deacon (her neighbor) helped her in such critical time by taking good care of her daughter. Then they became good friends. They used to share their sorrows with each other and spent a lot of time with each other.

The author wanted to tell us that there comes a time when the friendship between the opposite gender and their closeness destroys everything. She tells us that level also came in her life and she couldn’t restrain herself from love with him. Although she knew that he couldn’t be her boyfriend still she wants him to listen to her for hours without any objection and share her grieves.
