Rebecca and Iris are the prominent characters of the story. 1n 1961, Rebecca is a thirteen-year-old girl who is the student of 7^th grade. She lives with her mother in the Seaview Cottage. Harriet is fed up from the temper of her husband but she can’t leave him because of her daughter. Rebecca and Harriet live in fear and one night an incident happens that changes her life forever. One night, she hears someone coming at their door and he is arguing on something. Suddenly, she hears the voice of bullets and Rebecca’s life become even worse.

Rebecca’s mother and father both die, and police assume that her father killed himself after killing her mother. She told the police about the arrival of a stranger but the police do not listen to her and the case is closed. In 2012, a young mother flee from the city with her ill baby. Iris is a young journalist who is hired to cover the story. Iris is the daughter of Rebecca who is soon going to retire as a pediatric surgeon. Rebecca never tells anything to Iris about her family but it’s time to reveal everything and to look for the suspects.
