Bean Holladay and Liz Holladay are the main protagonists in the novel. Liz is the fifteen-year-old young girl and her little sister Bean is twelve years old. Bean is a bold little girl and Liz shy to interact with the strangers. The bond between the sisters is amazing and they are living happily with their mother in the small town of California.

Charlotte is an artist and she works hard to grow her girls. These girls do not anything about their father and their mother told that he is dead when they were very young. The sisters are very attached to their mother. One day, their mother left the town by giving them the money that may last up to months. Charlotte was going to attend a festival and she will showcase her talent there.

One day, while coming back from school, Liz and Bean saw a police van in front of their home. They both decided to go to the city to their windowed Uncle Tinsley. He is living in the old mansion alone. Here these sisters discover the stories of her father and the secrets that they never knew if they won’t come here.
