About the Author

King’s Lynn on the east coast of England (a very pretty town, you should visit) working on the sequel to The Turnglass, my most recent novel. I’ve been asked a few times how I came up with the idea for a ‘tete-beche’ novel – that’s one with two entwined stories printed back-to-back and head-to-tail – and I’ve wracked my brains trying to answer the question.

All I can remember, though, is sitting in what we in London call a ‘courtyard garden’ – that’s a patch of outdoor concrete about the area of a wardrobe, surrounded by barbed wire and police sirens – with some friends trying to explain it.
