It portrays the social world of a high school junior who happens to be burdened with intrusive thoughts.

It provides an entertaining plot while also educating the reader about mental illness by narrating in first person the internal ruminations of a 16-year-old girl, Aza Holmes, who wrestles with obsessive thought spirals while also navigating the usual teenage preoccupations and struggles with dating, fretting about college, calming her overbearing mother, and appeasing her demanding best friend. Throughout the story, Aza deals with regular teenage things such as school, teenage love, family, and friendship but with her trying to “get better” from her OCD. All in all, it is a great novel that contains numerous descriptions of life.
