The Island of Sea Women is the humour, paranormal, thriller, fiction and a literary novel which plot the story of two young girls. Lisa See is the author of this classy novel. Young-sook and Mi-ja are two close friends who are living in a Korean island known as Jeju. These girls have a strong bond of friendship and they will do anything for the friendship. Young-sook and Mi-ja belong with different backgrounds which may force them to leave each other in the future. Women are the supreme authority in this country and they perform all those jobs which were meant for men.

The women are brave and strong to do all kind of jobs and men raise the kids. These girls are also old enough to support their community while working in the sea. They are recruited as the baby drivers and this force is led by Young-sook’s mother. The girls are excited about their job but they are unaware of the danger. Despite their love, both families have differences which are difficult to ignore. Before WWII, the force was led by the family of Mi-ja but after the WWII, the family Young-sook took the charge. These friends have hundreds of dives together and they did a marvellous job. If Mi-Ji further becomes the part of dives it will be difficult for her mother to survive. Young-sook has to make a choice by choosing her friend of the family.
