Peter Heller is the author of this classic novel. Jack and Wynn are the best friends since their orientation. They have mutual love in books, fishing and hiking mountains. Jack is the handsome, brave and tall boy who was raised in Colorado. He is a master of cooking and sleeping in the most dangerous environment. Jack never back down from any challenge and he is always ready for it. Wynn is a Vermont kid and gentle giant. He loves swimming and there is nothing which can stop him from doing swimming.

Wynn is a strong head boy who knows how to make things possible in life. They both are planning to choose the appropriate place for the adventure in summer and they ended up in Maskwa River. It is located in northern Canada which takes a lot of paddling to reach their destination. They pack up their bags with books, blueberries, and other items which helps them in the nights of stargazing. While moving forward they hear the news of wildfire and it is moving forward. They hear the voices of man and woman talking to each other. When they try to find out this couple nothing was there. Next morning they meet a man who was alone. If he is the same person then where is a woman and if he is not then where the couple? Wynn, there is something wrong and they have to find it.
